Has the God of Moses, Abraham, David and the Prophets a Different Righteousness to the God of the New Testament as some Christians now claim?

New times of apostasy      It would have seemed folly a few generations ago for a confessing Reformed Evangelical to ask such a question without earning the undoubtable and rather shocked answer, ‘No’. But we are living in new times of apostasy and sadly, the righteousness of God as displayed in all the Scriptures and even the presence of Christ in all the Scriptures has been greatly challenged by a new para-Christian movement which has revived the Marcion heresy of the second century. To refresh our memories and inform those who have never heard of Marcion, he was born in Synope, thought to be the Synop of present day Turkey, and visited Rome around 144 A.D. spreading dualistic teaching concerning a wrathful God of severe justice… Full Article

Dear Brother Shane

Dear Brethren,      I have recently found the following letter on a web-site named The Lifted Veil. I replied immediately but, as so often on these sites, I was not accepted as a subscriber and my letter and personal data just disappeared after clicking on the comments button. I am thus presenting the original ‘open letter’ which I never received myself with my reply, trusting that someone will link me up with the writer so that a most necessary dialogue might take place. Dear brothers in Christ,      I have a few queries about George Ella’s remark regarding New Covenant Theology. 1. Has he actually read Wells and Zaspel’s book or is he basing his criticisms on material written by others? If he has not read the… Full Article

The Predestinarian Network

Dear Friends and Brethren,      Just as I tried recently to log on to the Puritanboard because they were carrying on speculative discussions regarding my person in my absence, I have been trying to log on to the Predestinarian Network as they seem to be very interested in confirming rumours concerning me and guessing where I stand doctrinally. After all the writing I have been doing for over fifty years, I would have thought they should know as I never beat about the bush as to where I stand. The various doctrines and lack of them they attribute to me are very imaginative. This time, however, getting onto their site was even more difficult. The forms to be filled in were mind-boggling and I did not have the shadow of a chance of… Full Article

Letters to an English Churchman – New Covenant Theology

Letters to an English Churchman correspondent defending his own version of New Covenant Theology and attacking traditional Covenant theology as featured in the Covenant of Grace: Sir:      Ian Major’s rejection of objective criticism as ‘the wildest accusations’ illustrates his unfamiliarity with NCT’s current teaching. He says he is no theologian but NCT enthusiasts claim this status, so he should let them speak for themselves, especially on ‘Moral Law’. The NCT idea of a developing eschatological ‘Moral Law’ has become such an embarrassment to them, chiefly through Tom Wells’ weird ‘expositions’, that their ‘elders’ have scrapped the term altogether. Mr Major was asked to define his… Full Article
