Part Four of Ditzel’s Rebuttal

Ditzel cuts God’s immanence out of the doctrine of justification from eternity      If one views the few works on the subject of the immanent work of God in Christ from eternity that Ditzel lists, one, if Ditzel really studied it, must have caused his eyes to be opened. This was “Justification as an Eternal and Immanent Act of God” by John Gill.’ Now, Ditzel admits that God acts in eternity but denies, contrary to Gill, that God acts from eternity in time. Gill of course, argues in the work Ditzel claims to have read that in justification God acts from eternity in time, indeed, He is immanent everywhere. Sometimes Ditzel is very near to appreciating this truth but then he always recoils from it claiming that as Gill is wrong,… Full Article

Blurbs for my new book: The Practical Divinity of Universal Learning: John Durie’s Educational Pansophism

The Practical Divinity of Universal Learning: John Durie’s Educational Pansophism   By George M. Ella   O.St.R. (Land NRW); I. Staatsprüfung Sek. I und II (Duisburg); II. Staatsprüfung Sek. I und II (Essen); Översiktskurs in Theologie (Uppsala); fil. kand. (Uppsala); BD (London); PGCE (Hull); Dr. phil. (Duisburg); Dr. theol. (Marburg).   ‘I highly recommend Dr. George Ella’s insightful work The Practical Divinity of Universal Learning. Dr. Ella sheds new light on the pioneering work of John Durie (1596-1680) in early attempts at universal education and Protestant church unity. Dr. Ella convincingly proves that Durie’s contributions to Europe’s educational and political reforms in the late 17th and early 18th… Full Article

Recent Judgment on George Ella Examined

Recently, I have been soundly scolded in a lengthy article on Peter Ditzel’s website both for my beliefs and for allegedly misrepresenting those of the web-master with ‘sarcasm’ and ‘verbal violence’. This article was chiefly, it appears, a reaction to my refutation of Ditzel’s criticism of my doctrine of justification. Several years after writing this rebuttal, Ditzel sent me two personal letters demanding an apology from my refusing to accept his version of what I believe on the grounds that he held his severe criticisms to be just. Indeed, he described my defense of my views in the most depreciating language. Now brother Ditzel has published, without prior notification, some of our correspondence, including a letter… Full Article

Peter Ditzel on Justification

Recently, I came across a long essay in six parts entitled, ‘A Rebuttal to George M. Ella’s ‘John Gill and Justification from Eternity’ on a website named Word of His Grace. The writer, Peter Ditzel, had obtained a part-copy of an armchair talk I gave to my host and friends on justification in Minnesota some years ago. The author claims that in rebutting me, he is also rebutting Peter Meney’s New Focus article ‘Ten Arguments for Justification from Eternity’.      I commenced my talk by referring to Romans 4:5 on God’s justification of the ungodly, thus opening a discussion on the timing of justification. Ditzel claims that before rebutting my Scriptural application, he must… Full Article

Covenant Theology as Seen by New Covenant Theology: Part Two

Part One dealt with the alleged agreements between the two covenant concepts, though neither the NCT’s own views of God’s Covenant with His Son, nor their erroneous presentation of Covenant Theology represent Biblical teaching. NCT’s dualistic view of the Testaments also affects their alleged disagreements with Covenant Theology as outlined in Theopaedia. NCT alleged disagreements with Covenant Theology 1. The Church started at Pentecost, and there is therefore no “Church” as such in the Old Testament/Covenant.      One cannot separate the Church from the everlasting Covenant of Grace. This was preached and believed by the prophets in the Old Testament and also preached and believed by New Testament saints such as… Full Article

Covenant Theology as Seen by the NCT: Part One

Peter Ditzel, whose attempt to distort Peter Meney’s and my own doctrine of justification was dealt with in the last issue, belongs to the latter day New Covenant Theology group of para-church movements. These have radically altered their common beliefs of some dozen years ago and are now expanding their Marcionite dualistic vision from their various contradictory views of the Covenant into all areas of theology.   They are now winning recruits from once staunch holders of Presbyterian covenant views such as The Founders Ministries who have brought new variations with them. It is thus fitting to take a new look at what some NCT adherents are saying today. So as not to meet confusion with confusion, I shall… Full Article
